You can probably farm the hulking outside of sardelac in HM if you take out [Apply Poison] for another block stance.

I've been running it for the past few missions and it seems to be doing very well...It can take bosses on NM down pretty fast

You Sir are pretty brave,
But I don't think that'll help you here ...
Here are some hints for future build wars:
- Use 8 skills;
- Use an Elite Skill;
- Make use of your primary attribute (aka expertise) and there must be a pretty damn good reason not to use your primary weapon mastery (aka marksmanship);
- Think about where and when you wanna use your build;
After you put thought and effort into that ask yourself why you wanna share it and what you expect from sharing it.
Maybe that helps.
Hope the flames don't hurt to much.

@ Lyynyyrd,
you can't tell me you haven't seen one profession using another professions weapon...theres plenty of other builds where this is the case.

this build is just a random test...I wanted to just make a fun build to use that apparently isn't UBER 1337...but w/e works fine for me.
btw this is a pve build only

If you are talking about a build for normal play (as opposed to solo farming etc.) I would take out troll unguent and add lightning reflexes. The IAS combined with the block chance can be nice. I would also take out cyclone axe for a single target higher damage skill. Use Triple Chop to maintain AOE poison (of a sort) and then chop individual targets.
This build will get the job done but...as a player who started the game as a R/W (4000+ hours ago play time now) melee I can assure you that you are not contributing to the party as well as you could using a bow, interrupts, and more conditions.

I have not seen the build but can tell its complete fail by just looking at your points in expertise. Ranger gimmick builds will always require high expertise. Just stick to PvX. OK, i looked at it, my little cousin could make a better build by just picking 8 random skills for NM use. What Ranger weakness were you trying to improve upon when you make this build ?

You probably want points in Strength if you're going to use axes.. you'd be better off using swords.

Axes aren't very efficient on a Ranger if you're looking to accomplish anything. However, if you just want to do it for fun, then:
You need an IAS. This is true for any damage dealing class. As an R/W, [Lightning Reflexes]["On Your Knees!"] and then either [Brawling Headbutt][Club of a Thousand Bears]["You Move Like a Dwarf!"] or a combination of the above will give you a good IAS and block stance that can be kept up permanently.
Your wilderness survival is way too high, and for no particular (worthwhile) reason. You don't need any more than 3 or 4 points in WS for Apply Poison. I would run 12+1+1 Expertise, 12 Axe Mastery, and 3+1 Wilderness Survival.
I would also recommend putting [Whirlwind Attack] in there since it synergizes very well with Triple Chop and Cyclone Axe.

Subpar gimmick.
Team synergy is the key to to take down any group in a fast and efficent way. Relying only on what you run to take down stuff is not the best way to go.

I would recommend a hammer as most know Rangers are good at using them for some reason.Itis a 2 handed weapon as well like a bow.

Remove Troll Unguent and Whirling Defense.
Put in Whirlwind Attack and Lightning Reflexes / Flail.
It's quite a bad gimmick though...

You mean Strength as in the Primary Warrior attribute no-one else can use ?
I've tried R/W Axe and didn't find it much fun or useful , Hammer is much better or R/P with Spears even better still although you need to add an IAS for whichever you choose.
Granted you won't (probably) be as efficient as a primary W , P but they can be fun and reasonably effective none the less. It's not like much in PVE demands the most efficient builds 100% of the time...

Presumably the idea of triple chop and cyclone axe is to spam poison? But your poison lasts 13 seconds! So no point, drop the elite, and have a poisonous axe. There is no real benefit in having that high WS, so switch to expertise to improve WD, that will also make your skills more affordable. Maybe add Lightening reflexes as an additional block/ias.
With no res I am assuming this is PvE, probably farming? If so something like Dwarven Stability will be hugely beneficial.

I run an R/W Axer when I go SABway in the 4 and 6 man areas in HM. I do it so i can grab the initial Aggro and then if anything gets past me they hit the "slow to respond" minion wall.
[skill]Dwarven Stability[/skill][skill]Lightning Reflexes[/skill][skill]Triple Chop[/skill][skill]Cyclone Axe[/skill][skill]Whirlwind Attack[/skill][skill]Disrupting Chop[/skill][skill]Distracting Strike[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
Posion isnt really needed unless your doing a solo farm somewhere maybe, it's not like your trying to pressure them out or anything, it's PvE, just kill shit.
Rangers spread degen and Interupt, in the 4 -6 man areas like I said, who cares about degen, but interupts are still needed, so I do.
I have a couple variations of this for soloing, but those don't even use Apply, though my R/W Sword build does.

Hammer would be better.
["For Great Justice!"][Earth Shaker][Whirlwind Attack][Crude Swing]["You Move Like a Dwarf!"]["On Your Knees!"][Lightning Reflexes][Dwarven Stability]
